Mackerel Fillets in Olive Oil La Gondola

Raw material

Mackerel or Scomber Colias is a blue fish  from the Scombridae family, abundant both in the Atlantic Ocean as well as the Mediterranean Sea. This fish is characterized for having a very svelte body and, mostly, by the shiny green spots in the upper part and back. It is a gregarious species that in the Winter is submerged at around 170m, in the Spring comes to the surface to eat and it’s then that the catching season occurs.

The La Gondola mackerel is obtained through the traditional Portuguese fishing methods, guaranteeing the sustainability and respect for the marine environment.

Can Preparation

The product is presented in the individual 120g net weight can format.

La Góndola Mackerel Fillets are prepared with the best mackerel caught in the Atlantic. They’re cleaned and canned by hand, one by one, according to the Portuguese traditional method, with the added olive oil-based liquid covering to enhance all its taste. The can is sterilized through a thermal process at 118ºC which guarantees the elimination of all bacteria and the preservation of the product for 5 years.

Conservation and harmonization

The canned mackerel fillets in olive oil do not need to be maintained in the cold, with the possibility to store it in a dry place. It does not require previous preparation and it is possible to consume directly from the can. In case the content is not consumed at once, it is recommended that it is taken out of the can, and kept in the fridge for a maximum of 48 hours.

We recommend its consumption at room temperature, just as presented in the can, to enjoy its full taste and velvety texture.
