Mackerel Fillets in Olive Oil Minerva
Mackerel or Scomber Colias is a blue fish from the Scombridae family, abundant both in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Mediterranean Sea. This fish is characterized for having a very slender body and, mainly, for the shiny green spots on the upper part and on its back. It’s a gregarious species that stays submersed in the Winter at around 170m; in the Spring it rises to the surface to obtain food and it’s then that their catching campaign occurs.
Minerva’s mackerel is obtained through traditional Portuguese fishing methods, guaranteeing the sustainability and respect for the marine medium.
The product is presented in the individual net weight 120g can format.
Minerva Mackerel Fillets are prepared with the best Atlantic mackerel. They’re cleaned and canned by hand, one by one, according to the Portuguese traditional method, with the addition of a covering of olive oil to enhance all its flavor. The can is sterilized through a thermal process at 118ºC that guarantess the elimination of all bacteria and the preservation of the product for 5 years.
Conservation and harmonization
Mackerel fillets in olive oil don’t need to be kept in the cold, simply being stored in a dry place. It doesn’t require any previous preparation and they can be consummed directly from the can. In case the content is not consummed at once, it’s recommended that it’s taken out of the can, and preserved in the fridge for a maximum of 48 hours.
We recommend its consumption at room temperature, just as presented in the can, to fully enjoy its flavor and velvety texture.
