Raw material

The sardine is the queen of the fish in Portugal. They’re characterized by their reduced size and the silver color of their scales. They move in big schools of fish in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

They’re caught by the purse seine method, which respects and protects the species the most.

Can Preparation

Minerva sardines are exclusively produced with fresh fish from campaign. They’re criteriously selected upon arrival at the factory so that in every can we have the best specimen possible. At Poveira the sardine is always produced by the pre-cooked method: the sardine is cooked in steam for a few minutes, before being prepared and canned.

Conservation and harmonization

The cans must be kept in a cool, dry place, without need for fridge. They must be consumed on the opening day, but, not being so, can be preserved during 48 hours in the cold.

They should be consumed at room temperature, without need for any preparation, being delicious as the main element in a toast, spreaded with olive oil from the can itself.
