Skinless and Boneless Sardines in Olive Oil La Gondola

Raw material

The sardine (Sardina pilchardus) is a blue fish belonging to the clupeidae family,  characterized by its elongated, small body. They’re easily recognized by the silver appearance of the belly scales which they use to blind their predators, reflecting the sunlight. Usually, they live in coastal areas forming bigh schools of fish that travel great distances.

Can Preparation

La Gondola canned sardines are produced with the best fish from campaign. Upon arrival at the factory, the fish is selected, cleaned and the spine is taken out; the excess bones are manually removed with the aid of a clamp. The sardine is pre-cooked for brief minutes, and afterwards the skin is removed, also by hand. The perfectly clean, whole loins are canned in the most careful manner.

The cans are subjected to a temperature of 118ºC which eliminates all bacteria, leaving them perfectly sterilized.

The preserves are presented in the individual 120g can format.

Conservation and harmonization

The La Gondola canned sardines do not need to be kept in the fridge, it is enough to store in a cool, dry place. They’re ready to eat, without need for any preparation.  In case the content of the can is not consumed in its entirety, it is recommended to take it out, place it in another container and keep it in the fridge for up to 48 hours. Since they’re presented without skin and bone, it is the perfect alternative for any kids’ meal. It’s recommmended its consumption at room temparature, taking advantage of the olive oil.
