Skinless and Boneless Sardines in Olive Oil Minerva

Raw material

The sardine (Sardina pilchardus) is a blue fish that belongs to the clupeidae family, characterized by the elongated, short body. They’re easly recognized by the silver appearance of its belly scales which they use to blind their predators, reflecting the sun light. They usually live in the coastal areas, forming big schools that travel long distances.

Preserve preparation

Minerva’s canned sardines are produced with the best fish, from campaign. Upon its arrival at the factory, the fish is selected, cleaned and the spine is taken out; the small bones are taken manually with the help of a clamp. The sardine is pre-cooked for brief minutes, followed by the removal of its skin, also manually. The perfectly clean and whole loins of the sardine are canned, with the greatest care.

The cans are subjected to a temperature of  118ºC that removes all bacteria, leaving them perfectly sterilized.

The preserves are presented in individual 120g cans.

Conservation and harmonization

Minerva’s canned sardines don’t need to be kept in the fridge; it’s enough to store in a dry place. They’re ready to eat, with no preparation needed. In case the whole content is not consummed, it’s recommended to be taken out and into another container and keep in the fridge until 48 hours. Since they’re presented without skin and bone, it’s the perfect alternative for any children’s meal. It’s recommended its consumption at room temperature, taking advantage of the olive oil.
